Seven people have been rescued and hospitalised following the collapse of two buildings in Istanbul’s Fatih district, reportedly caused by a natural gas leak, Governor Davut Gül said.
Gül added that search efforts are ongoing for one more missing person, while the rescue operation for another victim is nearing completion, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The governor inspected the site on Ebe Street in the Ayvansaray neighborhood, where the explosion occurred, and received briefings from emergency services.
“Preliminary data indicate that a total of nine people were trapped under the rubble. Rescue operations began immediately, involving the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), fire services, Fatih Municipality, police, and other units. So far, seven individuals have been transported to hospitals,” he noted.

Three people have been pulled from the rubble so far, while search operations continue for two others believed to be trapped.
Preliminary reports suggest that the collapse may have been caused by a gas explosion.
