“Shameful”: Armenian speaker rebukes opposition MP over CSTO remarks
09 September 2026 17:45
Armenia’s National Assembly Speaker Ruben Rubinyan has sharply criticised opposition MP Edgar Ghazaryan over comments he made during a committee meeting.
Rubinyan said Ghazaryan, a member of the Strong Armenia party, had questioned Armenia’s ability to sign international treaties, arguing that the country was allegedly failing to fulfil its obligations to the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
“Shameful,” Rubinyan said.
He argued that the CSTO had failed to respond when Armenia was attacked, despite its stated purpose of responding to attacks on member states.
Rubinyan also accused Ghazaryan of previously wanting Armenian sappers to “blow themselves up on a minefield”.
