Putin, Trump discuss possible trilateral summit with China in phone call

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump discussed the possibility of holding a trilateral summit involving Russia, China and the United States during a telephone conversation, the Kremlin said on September 9.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the idea of a three-way meeting had been raised previously, describing it as a potential avenue for high-level dialogue among the three countries, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.

“Of course, this potential possibility has been mentioned before as well,” Peskov told reporters.

According to the Kremlin, the conversation between Putin and Trump was constructive and “very frank.” The two leaders discussed the results of recent visits to Moscow and Kyiv by US special envoy Steve Witkoff and White House adviser Jared Kushner.

The war in Ukraine and efforts to find a diplomatic settlement remained at the centre of the discussions between Moscow and Washington, the Kremlin said.
