Armenia detains Meghri mayor in anti-corruption investigation UPDATED

Seven people have been detained alongside Meghri Mayor Khachatur Andreasyan in a corruption case, according to Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee.

Those detained include the head of a regional unit of the Environmental Patrol Service, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The criminal case concerns the giving and receiving of bribes.

Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for his detention. Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee is investigating the case.
