Interpol-listed Algerian drug trafficking suspect arrested in Istanbul PHOTO

An Algerian fugitive wanted by Interpol on charges of drug trafficking and membership in a criminal organisation has been detained in Istanbul.

The international organisation executed the international arrest warrant upon the request of the Algerian authorities against the individual, as Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media outlets, identified only by his initials M.D.

According to Algerian judicial authorities, the man had been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the crimes.

He was detained by Turkish police forces in Istanbul’s Fatih district after law enforcement forces conducted surveillance on him.

The suspect was taken to a police station and will be transferred to a temporary detention centre pending deportation.
