Armenian nuclear plant to go offline for 55 days

The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant is scheduled to be taken offline for 55 days in 2027 for routine maintenance and refueling operations.

“These will be annual works related to the loading and reloading of the plant. No replacement of major components is planned,” Armenian Nuclear Power Plant Director General Eduard Martirosyan said.

He added that the plant had sent a second batch of metal samples from the reactor vessel to Russia’s Rosatom for expert examination.

Armenia plans to extend the plant’s operational lifetime until 2041.

Martirosyan also said that no nuclear power plant anywhere in the world had undergone 20 major modernization measures within a 153-day period.
