Azerbaijani police seize almost 200 kilograms of drugs

Police seized 188 kilograms of drugs from illegal circulation on May 20-21.

The press service of the Interior Ministry told Caliber.Az that 36.1 kg of heroin, 115 kg of marijuana, 1.5 kg of opium, 35 kg of methamphetamine, pills of psychotropic substances, etc. were seized.

The majority of drugs smuggled into Azerbaijan arrive in the country from Iran.

Drug supply measures are mainly connected with the activities of law-enforcement agencies in the fight against the illicit trafficking of drugs.

According to Azerbaijani Foreign Moinistry's research, the following major drug trafficking routes that traverse the territory of Azerbaijan have been identified:

- Afghanistan - Iran - Azerbaijan - Europe;

- Afghanistan - Turkmenistan - Azerbaijan - Europe.
