Azerbaijan's state commission convenes to investigate AZAL plane crash in Kazakhstan
A state commission, set up by the Order of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, to investigate the causes of the AZAL plane crash in Kazakhstan, has convened, the Cabinet of Ministers said.
Ali Asadov, chairman of the commission, confirmed that President Ilham Aliyev has personally taken control of the investigation into the tragic incident, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
During the meeting, key issues were discussed, including the provision of necessary assistance to the injured passengers. Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev was tasked with coordinating medical support with the Kazakh authorities for those affected.
The commission also noted that efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased, with immediate measures being taken to support their families and loved ones. A dedicated hotline at Heydar Aliyev International Airport has been established to inform relatives of the passengers, and psychological and other necessary support is being offered.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan, in collaboration with their Kazakh counterparts, has initiated a criminal investigation into the causes of the crash. The authorities are committed to providing regular updates to the public on the investigation's progress.
The Commission emphasized that appropriate arrangements are being made to facilitate the evacuation of Azerbaijani citizens who were injured in the crash and are currently receiving treatment in Aktau, in consultation with medical professionals.
Additionally, ongoing cooperation with Kazakh officials continues at the government level to ensure the injured receive necessary assistance, while addressing other critical issues arising from the incident. Members of the Commission have been tasked with executing their responsibilities within their areas of authority.
