Azerbaijani president: Railway to Zangilan, cable car in Lachin set for completion next year
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has announced that major transport and infrastructure projects in the liberated territories are progressing rapidly, with key milestones expected as early as next year.
“The construction of the railway to Zangilan is already well underway. It will probably be completed next year,” Aliyev said during a meeting with residents of Kalbajar city on August 21, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The president also highlighted parallel efforts in Nakhchivan and Armenia. “We will now fully modernize the railway in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The construction of the railway is also planned on the territory of Armenia. In other words, Armenia has also taken on this obligation, and this is yet another historic success for us,” he stated.
In addition to rail development, cable car projects are also advancing. “The cable car in the city of Lachin will likely be completed next year,” Aliyev said.
He further detailed future routes. “The second cable car route will be Khankendi-Shusha, for which we have already laid the foundation. The third cable car route will be in Kalbajar,” the head of state added.
