Azerbaijani troops en route to Türkiye for "KURTARAN-2025" exercise
A group of Azerbaijani servicemen has departed for Türkiye to take part in the “KURTARAN-2025” international military exercise, set to take place in Marmaris until April 30.
The multi-force exercise will see the participation of Türkiye's Naval Forces, Land Forces, Air Force, and Coast Guard Forces, and is designed to enhance cooperation and interoperability among the various military branches, Caliber.Az reports per Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry.
A Distinguished Visitors Day is also scheduled during the exercise, offering high-level officials the opportunity to observe the operations. Throughout the event, diverse military units will work in tandem to complete their assigned tasks, strengthening coordination between the participating nations.
To recall, as of April 2025, Azerbaijan and Türkiye have continued to conduct joint military exercises aimed at strengthening their strategic cooperation and enhancing regional security. These exercises have been pivotal in demonstrating the close defence relationship between the two countries.
One notable exercise took place in February 2025 at Türkiye's Deep Snow and Harsh Cold Combat Training Centre, where personnel from the Azerbaijan and Türkiye Gendarmerie General Commands were trained in winter combat, avalanche rescue, and skiing operations.
Additionally, in January 2025, the "Winter Exercise - 2025" commenced with a flag-changing ceremony and was followed by a march from Nakhchivan to Kars, culminating in a series of battlefield simulations. This exercise focused on operations in challenging terrain, testing both countries' ability to conduct military tasks under difficult conditions.
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has highlighted that military cooperation between the two nations dates back to the early days of Azerbaijan’s independence, with more than 10 joint exercises conducted annually. These efforts are seen as key to ensuring stability in the Caucasus region.
