Baku acts as safe haven for diverted flights as Middle East crisis escalates photo
Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku has successfully received two international flights serving as diversionary landings due to regional airspace restrictions amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The airport’s press service told Caliber.Az that the captains of Flydubai flights operating on the Kazan–Dubai and Moscow–Dubai routes were requested to land at Heydar Aliyev International Airport as a backup airfield.

The Kazan–Dubai flight landed safely at 11:25 local time, while the Moscow–Dubai flight touched down at 11:43 local time. In both cases, the safety of passengers and crew members was fully ensured.
The landing and subsequent operational processes were conducted in strict accordance with international aviation standards and safety requirements. The airport’s operational infrastructure is fully equipped to handle diversionary and transit flights and continues to serve effectively as a reliable alternate airport within the regional air transport system.
