Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by Board Member of the US Caspian Policy Centre think tank Efgan Nifti on October 25.
The current bilateral Azerbaijan-US relations, cooperation issues in transit, transport and energy sector in the region, prospects for the Azerbaijani-Armenian peace process and regional issues were discussed at the meeting, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Bayramov informed the guests about Azerbaijan’s ongoing work on the reintegration of the Armenian residents of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region and the creation of an e-website for this purpose.
He emphasised that the departure of Armenian residents from Karabakh is not associated with any forced relocation, and this is confirmed by statements made after the recent visit of UN representatives to the region.
Touching upon the cooperation issues between Azerbaijan and Central Asia, Bayramov informed about the work carried out during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship in the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) in 2023, and about the summit planned to be held in Baku.
"SPECA member states and Azerbaijan cooperate in various spheres both at the bilateral intergovernmental level and within the programme. The recent processes in the region open up wide opportunities for international cargo transportation. The liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani territories gives a new impetus to the development of regional transport and logistics routes,” the minister added.
