According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used tanks and armoured vehicles in an attempt to breach the border. The attacks resulted in the deaths of three residents and injuries to more than 20 people. By the evening, Kursk authorities described the situation in the region as tense but under control.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, escalating the conflict from a regional dispute to a major international crisis. The invasion was met with strong resistance from Ukrainian forces and significant global sanctions against Russia.
