Qatar delivers fuel to Lebanese Army as part of $15 million military aid package
On October 27, the first batch of fuel provided by Qatar arrived at the port of Beirut, the Qatar Foundation said in a statement.
It noted that this batch is part of a "$15 million donation for the Lebanese army announced in September 2024," Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
"This donation reaffirms Qatar's continued support for the brotherly Lebanese people who stand by them in difficult circumstances," the statement explained.
Early this week, a Qatari plane arrived in Beirut with food, medicine and humanitarian aid for the Lebanese people.
In October, two Qatari military planes arrived at Beirut airport with humanitarian and medical aid. This comes in light of the escalating conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
Since September 23, the death toll from Israel's ongoing war with Lebanon has risen to 2,448 and 1.34 million people have been displaced.
Qatar has continuously assisted Lebanon since the end of the civil war (1975-1990) by providing monetary aid and political support, the country has helped Lebanon resolve various political crises over the years.
