Azerbaijan, Georgia have strong fraternal, friendly relations Parliament speaker says
Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili has said that the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are set to continue developing.
"We received congratulations from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and other political figures on the victory of the 'Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia' party in the parliamentary election," Papuashvili told reporters, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
"This is a vivid example of our friendship. Moving forward, the close and fraternal relations between two countries, which we have maintained to this day, will continue developing positively and grow even stronger," Papuashvili noted.
He added that the Georgian Parliament will soon begin its work in the new composition.
The parliamentary election was held in Georgia on October 26, in which the ruling Georgian Dream party, in power since 2012, received 53.9 per cent of the vote, according to the Central Election Commission. Four major opposition parties also cleared the electoral threshold: Coalition for Change (11 per cent), United National Movement (10.1 per cent), Strong Georgia (8.8 per cent), and Gakharia for Georgia (7.7 per cent).
