Armenian PM hopes for swift launch of railway link with Türkiye

11 June 2026 13:39

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed hope for the swift launch of a railway connection between Armenia and Türkiye.

Speaking at a government meeting while discussing the diversification of Armenia’s export geography and the emergence of new supply chains, he said in recent times, Armenia has gained new transport opportunities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

“Both sections of the Akhalkalaki–Kars railway are operational. I discussed this issue with the Prime Minister of Georgia as well, and he assured that there would be no problems in either direction,” he noted.

According to him, the President of Türkiye also confirmed that these routes are open.

“We hope that the railway from Armenia to Türkiye will be launched as soon as possible, not to mention that opportunities will also significantly expand within the framework of the TRIPP project,” the prime minister added.

Amid restrictions or bans imposed by Russia on imports of Armenian goods, Pashinyan further noted that the Armenian government has consistently worked to diversify export markets, saying these efforts are already yielding results.
