Iran envoy suggests Georgia as alternative route to Strait of Hormuz
Iran’s Ambassador to Georgia, Seyed Ali Moujani, has suggested Georgia as an alternative trade route for Gulf countries.
At a press conference, he highlighted the importance of developing new transport corridors, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georigian media.
“With the Strait of Hormuz closed, Gulf countries have virtually no alternative routes for obtaining essential goods. One of the opportunities for Georgia is to organize cargo transit through its territory to these countries,” he noted.
He stated that Tehran intends to work actively toward balancing trade between Iran and Georgia while expanding bilateral cooperation
According to the ambassador, the Iranian diplomatic mission would continue promoting ties in trade, culture, and tourism.
“I will do everything possible to make the trade balance more equitable and to increase exports of Georgian products to the Iranian market. As for political relations, they will continue in the usual manner,” Mojani added.
