Defence chief rejects claims about Israeli fighter jets violating Iran’s airspace
Iranian Defence Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh has dismissed reports suggesting that Israeli warplanes breached Iran's airspace during recent attacks on certain military sites within the country.
While speaking to reporters on October 30, he responded negatively when asked if Israeli fighter jets had entered Iranian airspace, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Brigadier General Nasirzadeh also noted that while the Israeli regime attempted to target both Iran's defensive and offensive capabilities, their efforts were unsuccessful.
He stated that the Islamic Republic is capable of quickly repairing the damaged components of the targeted defence facilities.
The Iranian general emphasised that there has been no interruption in the production of offensive systems, including missiles, within the country and dismissed the Israeli regime's assertions that Iran's defensive capabilities have been eradicated as unfounded.
He noted that under Article 51 of the UN Charter, any country facing aggression and attack has the right to respond.
Brigadier General Nasirzadeh asserted that the Islamic Republic will react to the Israeli regime in accordance with international law and Iran will neither rush nor postpone its response to Israeli aggression.
“We will do it with prudence and in due course,” he added.
Earlier foreign media reported that Israeli fighter jets penetrated Iranian airspace on October 26 during a large-scale operation aimed at crucial military sites. This news followed a report from Iran International that Israeli F-35s had entered Iran's airspace for the first time and targeted locations near Tehran.
A former and a current Israeli official confirmed that the Israeli warplanes breached Iranian airspace as part of the airstrikes conducted on October 26.
The report indicated that while approximately 100 jets participated in the mission, only a portion actually entered Iranian airspace.
