Putin sees chance for Ukraine settlement, backs direct Moscow-Kyiv deal

Russian President Vladimir Putin believes there is a chance for a settlement in Ukraine, stressing that Moscow and Kyiv must reach an agreement directly. 

He made the remarks during the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), emphasising that other countries can only support and assist the two sides, Caliber.Az reports via Russian state media.

“Russia and Ukraine must, above all, reach an agreement between themselves. All other countries are ready to support and help. And not only the United States, but also the countries present here,” Putin stressed.

He also noted that contacts with Ukraine through the intelligence services of the two countries were continuing.
