Georgia plans easier residence permits for foreign IT specialists
The Georgian government plans to simplify the procedure for foreign IT specialists seeking temporary residence permits, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The proposed amendments to the law “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons” would extend eligibility for temporary residence permits to foreign nationals working in the IT sector, people holding managerial or representative positions at international IT companies, and foreign citizens registered as individual entrepreneurs with small-business status.
According to the draft legislation, streamlining the residence permit process is intended to address practical difficulties faced by international IT companies when recruiting foreign specialists.
Georgia currently has 179 organisations with international company status.
