Russian Interior Ministry seeks house arrest for Solaris founder VIDEO

03 September 2026 17:34

Russia’s Interior Ministry has asked a court to release Kirill Mironov, founder of the Solaris service used to obtain leaked personal data, from pretrial detention and place him under house arrest.

Mironov is accused of creating what authorities described as “one of the largest” resources for obtaining leaked personal data through his company, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

According to Mediazona, Mironov previously worked for the FSB.

The report said the motion filed by the Moscow branch of the Russian Interior Ministry’s Investigative Directorate has not yet been considered by the Moscow City Court.

Mironov was detained in July 2025 and has spent just over 13 months in custody.

Former Russian Defence Ministry employee Mikhail Seyfetdinov also was detained along with Mironov. He reportedly created an information security system for Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces and received a commendation from the ministry for his work. He also remains in pretrial detention, while the court has not yet registered materials concerning his case.

The Interior Ministry has claimed that the two men collected a vast amount of data from leaks on Solaris, which was used by more than 2,000 people. The ministry also said foreign nationals and intelligence services may have been among those involved in developing the bot.

The men face up to five years in prison.
