Education World Forum: Azerbaijan courts global academic ties at London forum PHOTO
A delegation led by Azerbaijan’s education minister Emin Amrullayev has travelled to London to attend the Education World Forum 2026, where governments and international organisations discuss the future of education systems and cross-border cooperation.
The delegation met Azerbaijani students studying in the United Kingdom under the State Programme for 2022–2028. Azerbaijan’s ambassador to the United Kingdom Elin Suleymanov joined the meeting.

The Ministry of Science and Education said participants discussed the long-term direction of the State Programme, the role of overseas education in developing human capital, and the contribution of graduates to Azerbaijan’s science, education and innovation sectors.
Amrullayev highlighted the importance of skills and knowledge gained abroad and said they would play a central role in the country’s development. He asked students about their studies, career plans and challenges, and he encouraged them to stay engaged in academic and professional life.

Students raised questions and shared proposals on career opportunities and employment prospects in Azerbaijan after graduation, and participants exchanged views on pathways into the domestic labour market.
The Education World Forum runs in London from May 17 to 20, 2026 and brings together education ministers, international organisations and strategic partners to examine inclusive and future-focused education systems.

The forum focuses on the theme peace, planet, purpose and pathways, and participants discuss how to strengthen international cooperation and design responses to emerging challenges in global education.
