The dialogue saw a candid exchange of views on a variety of foreign and security policy matters of mutual concern, reflecting the growing cooperation between the European Union and Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports citing EU’s website.

The discussions underscored the ongoing normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, highlighting the broader implications for regional security. Both parties emphasized the necessity of fostering regional stability and enhancing sustainable connectivity. Azerbaijan reaffirmed the importance of the bilateral nature of its dialogue with Armenia, while the EU reiterated its steadfast support for the peace process. The ultimate goal, as stated by the EU, is to achieve a secure, stable, peaceful, and prosperous South Caucasus, benefiting all inhabitants of the region.

Azerbaijan's role as a crucial and dependable energy partner for the EU was a key topic of discussion. The participants acknowledged Azerbaijan's strategic importance in the further development of the Middle Corridor, which is pivotal for transcontinental trade and energy routes.

The EU expressed its appreciation for Azerbaijan's efforts in humanitarian demining and assisting mine victims. Under the EU Team Europe Initiative and other programs, the EU assured continued support for Azerbaijan’s mine action programs. Furthermore, Azerbaijan showed interest in potential collaboration with the EU under the European Peace Facility (EPF), aiming to enhance peace and security in the region.

The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Enrique Mora, Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs at the European External Action Service, and Mr. Hikmet Hajiyev, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Azerbaijan. Both leaders agreed to maintain regular exchanges on foreign and security policy issues, emphasizing the importance of meaningful progress across all areas of bilateral cooperation under the EU-Azerbaijan Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.
