Trump claims over 112,000 Russian troop losses in Ukraine current year
US President Donald Trump has released his own casualty estimates related to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, asserting that Russian military losses have exceeded 112,000 since the start of 2025.
In a post shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that nearly 20,000 Russian soldiers have died in just one month in the senseless war with Ukraine. The president did not cite any official or independent sources to support these figures, Caliber.Az reports.
“I have just been informed that almost 20,000 Russian soldiers died this month in the ridiculous war with Ukraine. Russia has lost 112,500 soldiers since the beginning of the year. That is a lot of unnecessary death! Ukraine, however, has also suffered greatly. They have lost approximately 8,000 soldiers since January 1, 2025, and that number does not include their missing. Ukraine has also lost civilians, but in smaller numbers, as Russian rockets crash into Kyiv, and other Ukrainian locales. This is a war that should have never happened — This is Biden’s war, not “Trump’s.” I’m just here to see if I can stop it!” Trump noted.
This is the first time Trump has publicly offered concrete numbers regarding battlefield losses, despite regularly commenting on the war’s toll. In previous remarks, he had only referred broadly to estimated daily casualties of up to 5,000 on both sides.
