Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Dragana Kojic, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Azerbaijan, as she concludes her diplomatic mission in the country.
Minister Bayramov expressed appreciation for Kojic’s contributions to fostering cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ICRC over the course of her tenure. He extended his best wishes for her future professional endeavors, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
The meeting served as an opportunity for both sides to reflect on the ICRC’s activities in Azerbaijan over the past 33 years. Discussions covered a wide range of pressing issues, including the current status and prospects of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in territories liberated from occupation, the persistent threat posed by landmines, and the unresolved cases of missing persons.
Kojic expressed her satisfaction with the collaboration between the ICRC and the Azerbaijani government, emphasizing the support her organization had received in carrying out its humanitarian mission.
The sides also underscored the importance of maintaining engagement between Azerbaijan and the ICRC through the organization's headquarters in Geneva. This comes in light of the planned closure of the ICRC’s Azerbaijani office, which is scheduled to cease operations in early September 2025.
