Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan ties enter new phase, FM Bayramov says

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are seeing growing cooperation across a wide range of areas, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said on August 24.

Speaking to Uzbekistan 24 television, Bayramov said state visits by the presidents of the two countries had become a tradition, noting that Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Azerbaijan last year, while Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is currently on a state visit to Uzbekistan, local media reports.

“Today, 13 documents were signed following this visit,” Bayramov said, highlighting the Treaty of Eternal Friendship between the two countries, the final decision of the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Council and 11 additional documents covering various fields.

He also noted that a number of new projects had been launched and said an interregional forum held on August 22 had achieved successful results.

Bayramov said each state visit gives additional impetus to bilateral relations. He also praised Uzbekistan’s development, saying that even a short interval between his visits allows him to observe dynamic changes in Tashkent and the country’s regions.

“Uzbekistan’s international standing is developing very dynamically, and its position on international platforms is steadily growing,” Bayramov said.
