Civilians injured in Armenian attacks during 44-day war testify in Baku court
Civilians injured during Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan in the 2020 Second Karabakh War have testified at an ongoing trial in the Baku Military Court, shedding light on the human cost of indiscriminate attacks on residential areas.
One of the victims, Akifa Bayramova, told the court that a missile fired by Armenian forces struck her home in Ganja at approximately 2:00 a.m. on October 11, 2020. The blast completely destroyed the house and left her wounded. She said her grandchild was pulled from under the rubble and is "still undergoing treatment," Caliber.Az quotes her as saying.
Another civilian, Sevinc Hasanova, recounted the horror she experienced on October 5, 2020, while visiting relatives in the Goranboy district. According to her testimony, Armenian artillery shelling wounded both her and members of her family.
The trial is part of broader legal proceedings against several citizens of the Republic of Armenia, who are accused of committing a range of serious crimes during the war. The charges include crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, planning and waging an aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of warfare, acts of terrorism, financing terrorism, and the violent seizure and retention of power.
