Azerbaijan, Malaysia map out new areas for bilateral cooperation PHOTO

Azerbaijan and Malaysia have discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation across trade, tourism, education and other sectors during a meeting between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Malaysia’s newly appointed Ambassador Aznifah Abdul Ghani.

Abdul Ghani presented copies of her credentials to Bayramov during the meeting, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

FM Bayramov congratulated the ambassador on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan.

The sides reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for further cooperation, while also exchanging views on multilateral engagement. Particular attention was given to expanding economic and trade ties, tourism and education.

The officials also discussed Azerbaijan’s transit and logistics capabilities and its role in strengthening regional energy security.

Preparations for the upcoming Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), scheduled to take place in Baku later this year, were also discussed.

The sides noted that Azerbaijan is also set to host the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit in 2027.

Abdul Ghani expressed appreciation for the warm reception and pledged to contribute during her tenure to strengthening the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Malaysia and expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
