Azerbaijan’s foreign ministry expresses condolences over Nepal-China floods

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has expressed condolences over the devastating floods and landslides that struck the Nepal-China border region, killing more than 150 people and causing widespread destruction.

In a statement posted on its official X account, the ministry said: “We express deep sorrow over the devastating floods and landslides that struck the Nepal–China border region, causing loss of life and extensive destruction.”

The ministry extended its condolences to those affected by the disaster, saying: “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic disaster, and wish a swift recovery to those injured.”

It also expressed hope that ongoing rescue operations would locate people who remain missing.

“We hope that the ongoing search and rescue efforts will lead to the safe recovery of those still missing,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

The floods and landslides caused extensive damage across the border region. According to the latest reports, the death toll has since risen significantly, with at least 157 people reported dead in Nepal and China and hundreds still missing.
