Airport security stops man over lamp shaped like two guns in Hawaii

A traveller flying home from Hawaii was stopped by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents after an X-ray scan of his carry-on appeared to show two guns inside, but the items were actually a wall decoration featuring two plastic guns and the words, “We Don't Call 911,” Newsweek reports.

A plastic surgeon from Beverly Hills told Newsweek that TSA (Transportation Security Administration) officers spotted a suspicious image on a scanner, called a supervisor and separately inspected his bag.

Calvert initially feared that he might be detained.

The object turned out to be a wall lamp his father had given him during a trip to Hawaii.

It was designed in the shape of two plastic guns and featured the inscription “We Don't Call 911.”

Calvert had placed the gift in his carry-on bag and forgotten about it.

After opening the bag, the officers confirmed that the item was not metallic and was a decorative object. Calvert then continued his trip.

TSA prohibits passengers from carrying realistic replicas of firearms in carry-on luggage.

Such items are generally recommended to be placed in checked baggage, subject to airline and security regulations.
