EU to establish deep-sea digital cable with Georgia
European Commissioner for European Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi has said that a deep-sea digital cable will be established between EU and Georgia.
One of the important projects is the deep-sea digital cable that will connect the EU-Georgia main networks. A permanent connection will be established between the sides, European Commissioner for European Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, said after meeting with Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, Interpressnews reported on November 15.
As he noted, Georgia and the European Union "have made very important progress" in this direction.
According to him, “we have everything to make Georgia a part of Europe and to give Europe to the citizens of Georgia".
"This will be the first major project that we will implement and we will see the results soon. I hope that we can speed up the work on the deep-sea power cable, and I also hope that there will be more new ideas in the future. I also learned a few days ago that Georgia is going to build an electricity terminal, which will create additional opportunities. We are interested in this direction, to explore this opportunity and see how we can expand our partnership," said Olivér Várhelyi.
