Media: Hezbollah's late leader Nasrallah temporarily buried in secret location
A source close to Hezbollah confirmed on October 4 that the group’s assassinated leader, Hassan Nasrallah, has been temporarily buried in an undisclosed location.
This move was made out of concern that Israel might target a large funeral gathering, Caliber.Az reports via Sky News Arabia.
“Hassan Nasrallah has been temporarily buried until conditions permit a public funeral,” the source revealed.
The source further explained that the group could not hold a public funeral "due to Israeli threats of targeting mourners and the burial site."
A Lebanese official, speaking anonymously, disclosed that Hezbollah had attempted, through senior Lebanese figures, to secure assurances from the United States, a key Israeli ally, that Israel would refrain from attacking the funeral. However, these efforts proved unsuccessful.
Israel stated that around 20 members of the Iranian-backed group were killed in its September 27 attack along with Hezbollah. A week on, Hezbollah has yet to announce a successor to Nasrallah.
Reports from US and Israeli media have indicated that Nasrallah’s cousin, Hashem Safieddine, a prominent Hezbollah figure and potential successor, was recently targeted in an Israeli airstrike on southern Beirut.
