Death toll in Philippine ferry fire rises to 76

The death toll from a fire aboard a ferry off the coast of the Philippines has risen to 76, according to Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Noemi Cayabyab, TASS reports.

The Coast Guard had previously reported 35 fatalities. However, rescuers searching the vessel recovered another 41 bodies, bringing the confirmed death toll to 76.

The fire broke out aboard the vessel on September 9. There were 134 people on board, including 17 crew members.
