Houthis seize advanced coastal surveillance systems in Yemen PHOTO

12 September 2026 15:42

Houthi forces in Yemen have reportedly seized a range of advanced coastal surveillance and maritime monitoring systems previously supplied to the region by the United States, Israel and the United Arab Emirates, according to media reports.

The equipment reportedly includes the French-made Thales CoastWatcher 100 coastal surveillance system, Germany’s Hensoldt Spexer radar and Kelvin Hughes SharpEye systems.

Other systems said to have been seized include the ELM-2226 ACSR mobile coastal radar, Blue Whale underwater sensors reportedly deployed around the Hanish and Zakir islands, and long-range electro-optical/infrared thermal imaging systems.
