Trump’s son-in-law: US to take new steps on Russia-Ukraine talks

US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, indicated that Washington could announce new steps in the coming weeks aimed at advancing negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

Speaking via video link at the Yalta European Strategy (YES) conference in Kyiv, Kushner said the US side expects to present further steps within several weeks and hopes they will help Moscow and Kyiv move closer to launching a negotiating process, Caliber.Az reports.

He added that Russia had outlined the boundaries of what it wants to achieve, but Ukraine does not agree to those conditions, meaning that a peace deal has yet to be reached.

“Our job as the mediator is obviously to be going to both sides, building the trust, listening to both sides, looking for areas of overlap. And then, looking for the opportunity to get that done or in some cases creating the opportunity to get that done,” he noted, adding that the United States had already achieved “quite a lot” in efforts to resolve the conflict and intended to continue moving forward.
