Chinese leader urges Global South to jointly counter security threats

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on Global South countries to join forces to address both traditional and non-traditional security threats, speaking at the BRICS summit in New Delhi.

“Global South countries should work together to develop security governance and jointly counter traditional and non-traditional threats,” Xinhua quotes Xi Jinping as saying at the summit.

The president noted that the world is undergoing profound changes, with the Global South emerging as a key driving force behind the development of a multipolar world. At the same time, he pointed out that the international situation remains complex and unstable, with new risks and challenges arising one after another.

He added that Beijing would continue its policy of openness and share development opportunities with countries around the world.
