Lukashenko: Belarus ready to support Ukraine against Polish intervention
Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus has made a bold statement regarding the potential involvement of Poland in Ukraine, asserting that his country would support Ukrainians if Polish forces were to intervene.
He explained that such a move from Minsk would be necessary as the western borders of Belarus could be threatened, Caliber.Az reports via Belarusian media.
“If the Poles invade Ukraine and attempt to annex the Western part, we will support Ukrainians,” Lukashenko stressed.
Meanwhile, during a recent visit to the Brest region on 4 October, Lukashenko reiterated Belarus's commitment to peaceful coexistence with Ukraine.
He remarked, “We have never initiated any confrontation with Kyiv,” reinforcing his stance against conflict.
The president further stressed that armed conflict is a disaster, stating, “The Belarusian people do not want this.” He assured, “Do not worry; we do not intend to fight the Ukrainians, and they do not want to fight us. We will do everything possible to coexist peacefully with Ukraine.”
This statement comes at a time of heightened concern over regional security, as Belarus navigates its relationships with both Ukraine and Poland.
