CBS shows footage of damage at US military bases in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait PHOTO

CBS News has published footage showing damage at US military bases in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait following strikes during the conflict between the United States and Iran.

The broadcaster released photographs obtained from US service members documenting the aftermath of the attacks. At Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, a Boeing E-3 Sentry airborne early warning and control aircraft was damaged, with the strike hitting its tail section.

Photographs from Camp Buehring and Camp Arifjan in Kuwait also show damage to barracks, mobile homes and vehicles.

“This is major damage to our bases that hasn't been communicated to the American public,” one deployed service member told CBS News. “We're standing there with our eyes closed getting punched in the face.”

The footage comes as a new report by the Defence Department’s inspector general revealed up to $3.7 billion in US military equipment losses during the conflict, including nearly 60 aircraft. The report, which was submitted to Congress as part of a first-of-its-kind mandatory assessment, also noted that US Central Command had reported Iranian strikes on American bases across Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan.
