FM: Azerbaijan ready to expand North-South transport corridor
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has said that Azerbaijan is ready to increase the capacity of the North-South transport corridor and fulfil its obligations to build the Rasht-Astara railway.
Bayramov made these remarks at the joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Report informs referring to Iran’s Mehr news agency.
While speaking about the establishment of peace in the region, the Azerbaijani foreign minister noted that Azerbaijan "strives to normalise relations with Armenia".
“We declared our readiness to resume transport relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and made proposals on the delimitation of the border between the two countries,” he said.
The North-South international transport corridor will be intensified as a result of the construction of the 165-kilometre Rasht-Astara railway in Gilan province in northern Iran.
