Azerbaijan, Lithuania hold political consultations To strengthen bilateral ties
Another round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Lithuania took place in Vilnius, aimed at enhancing bilateral relations.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Lithuanian side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Jonas Survila, Caliber.Az reports.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state of and prospects for cooperation in political, economic, and humanitarian areas. Emphasis was placed on the importance of high-level mutual visits, the expansion of the legal framework, and the intensification of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The discussions highlighted numerous opportunities for cooperation, particularly in alternative energy, transportation, high technologies, agriculture, and agro-industry. The role of the Azerbaijani-Lithuanian intergovernmental commission in strengthening economic ties and sharing experiences in humanitarian, educational, cultural, and tourism sectors was also underscored.
Additionally, Rzayev briefed Lithuanian officials on preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, scheduled to be held in Baku this November.
He also addressed the regional situation in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan's constructive efforts toward lasting peace, the ongoing mine threat in liberated territories, and the extensive reconstruction initiatives underway.
As part of the visit, Rzayev engaged in discussions with various Lithuanian officials and participated in roundtable sessions with representatives from think tanks and research centres, further promoting dialogue and collaboration between the two nations.
