A French citizen has been apprehended in Baku for an act of vandalism at the Baku Metro depot. The individual, identified as Clerc Tego Hugo, was found guilty of intentionally damaging property belonging to the closed joint-stock company "Baku Metro."

The incident occurred during the night of March 30, 2024. It was revealed that Hugo, along with two other individuals identified as P. Han Paul from the Australian Union and Ismael De Saint Quent from New Zealand, unlawfully entered the depot premises and caused damage to several cars, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry told Caliber.Az.

Following the identification of criminal activity, a case was initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code by the Police Department. As a result, Hugo was sentenced to three months of imprisonment by the court due to the presence of corpus delicti in the case. Meanwhile, non-arrest measures were taken against the other individuals involved.

Authorities have assured that necessary investigative measures are underway to address the incident effectively. The arrest of the French citizen underscores the seriousness with which acts of vandalism are treated in Azerbaijan, reflecting the country's commitment to upholding law and order and protecting public property.
