Georgian clergymen visit liberated Azerbaijani lands PHOTO

22 May 2022 21:00

Religious people from Georgia have visited the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.

The visit took place on May 21 to the Aghdam and Fuzuli districts of the country, both liberated from Armenian occupation in 2020. The tour was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Georgia with the support of the Representative Office of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Georgia, APA reports.

The clergymen first visited the mosque in the Merdinli village of the Fuzuli district.

An official of the Special Representative Office of the President, Araz Imanov, said that during the occupation, the Armenians turned the mosque into a barn for pigs, an animal that is recognized as unpleasant or “haram” in the Islamic world, and presented the guests with facts of insulting Muslim shrines.

The guests later visited the Fizuli International Airport and toured the modern transport hub. They were also informed about the Zangilan and Lachin airports that are currently being built in the liberated territories.
