Informal consultations in Azerbaijan discuss COP29 agenda
On July 26-27, the Shamakhi District of Azerbaijan hosted informal consultations at the delegation heads' level to discuss key issues on the COP29 agenda.
The event saw participation from the chair of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Scientific and Technological Advice Observatory, representatives and experts from the UNFCCC Secretariat, ministers responsible for climate issues from Bangladesh and Barbados, and delegates from over 40 countries involved in international climate negotiations, Caliber.Az reports, citing COP29's official website.
In his address, COP29 Chief Negotiator and Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Yalchin Rafiyev, reiterated the COP29 chairmanship's commitment to advancing all pillars of the Paris Agreement. He emphasized the necessity of transparent and focused negotiations and urged parties to be constructive in resolving disagreements within the ongoing climate discussions.
