Kazakh leader: CIS needs to strengthen positions in int'l arena

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev believes that the CIS needs to strengthen its position in the international arena.

“In order to adapt the organization to modern global realities, we have to improve its potential, strengthen the positions of the Commonwealth in the international arena. In the near future, the preparation of documents on the establishment of institutions of an observer to the CIS and a partner of the commonwealth will begin,” he said in his speech at the informal CIS summit on Monday in St. Petersburg, tengrinews reports.
