Media: Israeli strike on Gaza refugee camp kills 18, injures over 40
An Israeli airstrike on the Nuseirat camp for Palestinian refugees in the central part of the Gaza Strip killed at least 18 people and injured at least 44.
Six employees of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) are among the dead, Caliber.Az reports, citing CNN.
On September 11, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported a strike on the former al-Jawni school building. The IDF claimed that Palestinian Hamas militants were located there.
According to the Israeli army, the school building was used by the militants to “plan and carry out terrorist attacks against IDF troops”.
UNRWA claimed the highest number of staff members of the organisation killed in a single incident. One of them was the manager of a refugee reception centre, the organisation added. UNRWA, cited by CNN, estimated that some 12,000 Palestinian refugees were sheltering at the al-Jawni school.
