Official: Ratification of Rome Statute of ICC won't harm Armenian-Russian relations
Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hakob Arshakyan stated that Yerevan plans to make sure that the ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) will not damage the strategic relations with Russia.
"Armenia has heard the concerns of the Russian Federation and will be able to ensure that the further process related to the Rome Statute does not harm the strategic relations between Armenia and Russia," Arshakyan said in an interview with Armenpress news agency, Gazeta.ru reports.
He said the Armenian authorities have no intention of arresting Russian President Vladimir Putin under the ICC warrant if he comes to the republic.
On March 24, the Constitutional Court of Armenia ruled that the obligations under the Rome Statute of the ICC were constitutional.
