Ukraine conflict to continue until Russia achieves its goals Kremlin spokesperson says
The Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has stated that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine will continue until Russia achieves its stated goals.
Peskov discussed the evolution of the "special military operation," emphasizing that what initially began as an operation focused on Ukraine has now become a broader conflict involving NATO, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
"When all this started, it started against Ukraine. And now it continues as a war between Russia and NATO," Peskov explained.
"That's why it took a little longer and will last a little longer." He indicated that the nature of the conflict has shifted, and as a result, its duration has also been extended.
When asked about the potential end of the war, Peskov could not provide a definitive timeline.
"I don't think it's possible to answer the question of when it might end, when it might come to an end," he said. However, he was clear on one point: "It will end as soon as we achieve our objectives."
Peskov emphasized that the Kyiv government has effectively ruled out the possibility of negotiations with Russia. "There was a special decree issued by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy forbidding any Ukrainian president from holding talks with the Russians," Peskov said.
"As a result, we are continuing our military operation." He further pointed out that the possibility of peace talks has been blocked not only by Kyiv, but also by their leaders in Washington.
