Orbán opposes NATO troop deployment to Ukraine
23 May 2024 20:34
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán opposes the idea of Western countries sending troops to Ukraine or providing it with weapons capable of striking deep into Russian territory.
In an interview with the online publication Blikk, Orbán expressed his hope that the European Union and NATO would refrain from such actions.
He stated, "War is an animal that does not stand still, but moves. And it is moving towards escalation... the next stage of the war, which will mean the transfer to Ukraine of technology [weapons] capable of reaching Russian territory and, God forbid, the entry of Western European states or NATO troops into Ukrainian territory, is a step that even many former prime ministers who support the war consider excessive."
