Pakistan commemorates January 20 tragedy victims
Pakistan has commemorated the January 20 tragedy victims.
The embassy of Azerbaijan in Pakistan organised a workshop on the occasion of January 20 - the National Mourning Day, according to Report.
The students and teachers of the Pakistan National University of Modern Languages, representatives of the country’s think tanks, as well as the embassy’s staff attended the workshop “January 20 - the heroic chronicle of the Azerbaijani history”.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov noted that the 34th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy will be marked this year. He expressed respect for the memory of those who died for Azerbaijan’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ambassador noted that the January 20 tragedy was assessed politically and legally at the initiative of national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. The diplomat emphasised that the Azerbaijani army restored the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity thanks to the wise leadership of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the National University of Modern Languages, Professor Jamil Asghar Jami and Executive Director of Pakistan's Global Strategic Institute for Sustainable Development (GSISD) Mohammad Shakeel Ahmed delivered speeches at the workshop. They noted that the January events are a symbol of independence, the struggle for freedom and the unbending will of the Azerbaijani people.
