Azerbaijan and Moldova have reached an agreement to sign memorandums of cooperation in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and energy regulation.

The two countries discussed the expansion of their energy cooperation during a meeting between Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov at the COP29 conference, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The talks focused on Azerbaijan’s transition to "green energy" and the creation of "green energy corridors" in various directions. Both sides exchanged views on increasing collaboration in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy regulation.

Shahbazov also held a separate meeting with Leila Benali, Morocco's Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development. During the meeting, they shared experiences on developing the energy sector and transitioning to green energy and explored opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy, gas infrastructure, and promising projects. Support for the energy initiatives at COP29 was also discussed.

In addition to the energy talks, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with Moldovan Prosecutor General Ion Munteanu on November 14 to discuss the strengthening of legal cooperation between the two countries. The meeting highlighted the success of their political, economic, and trade relations and the growth of cooperation across various sectors. Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the progress made and emphasized the continued expansion of ties in multiple fields.

Munteanu expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and noted the importance of deepening legal cooperation. He also praised Azerbaijan for its outstanding preparations for the COP29 conference, recognizing its potential contribution to addressing climate change.

Underscoring the strengthening of Azerbaijan-Moldova relations, Moldovan President Maia Sandu participated in the Leaders’ Summit of COP29 on November 12. At the summit, she delivered an address on behalf of Moldova, thanking President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani government for hosting the event in Baku. Sandu also expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s leadership in the fight against climate change.
